A suspect in the killing of a Virginia man last month in Edgecomb was found in California on Monday.
Luke Krott, of Edgecomb, had been staying with his parents in Edgecomb but left the state, according to police. He was found Monday evening on a sailboat at a marina in San Diego, California, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
Krott is linked by evidence to the killing of 34-year-old William “Nate” Robinson of Austinville, Virginia, whose body was found in a trash barrel at the Schmid Preserve on Old County Road in Edgecomb on Dec. 3, 2024, according to state police.
The state chief medical examiner determined that Robinson died of a gunshot wound and ruled that his death was a homicide.
Police search a residence at 57 Conant Road in Turner on Dec. 12, 2024, where they found the evidence linking Krott to Robinson’s death, according to state police.
Krott is being held at the San Diego Central Jail on a fugitive from justice charge pending his extradition to Maine, where he will face a murder charge, Moss said.
