A Monday night fire heavily damaged an auto garage in Orrington.
The fire began about 7 p.m. at Lav’s Auto on River Road, according to Orrington Fire Chief Scott Stewart.
When crews arrived, the fire had spread to about a quarter of the building, Stewart told the Bangor Daily News.
Crews from Bangor, Brewer, Bucksport, Eddington and Holden fire departments assisted Orrington’s firefighters. Brewer police, Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection also responded.
Stewart said that crews got the fire under control in about 45 minutes to an hour. The flames “heavily damaged” the building, as well as the equipment inside.
Gas pumps near the fire didn’t present a challenge to firefighters, Stewart said.
The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the blaze.
