A man was hit by a SUV Tuesday afternoon when he allegedly fled from the Lewiston Hannaford with stolen vodka.
Ronnie Clark, 45, of Lewiston was summonsed for theft by unauthorized taking, according to the Lewiston Police Department.
Clark allegedly stole several liquor bottles from Hannaford, and when a loss prevention worker confronted him in the parking lot, Clark fled and a 2003 Mazda CX30 hit him as he crossed Highland Spring Road about 1:50 p.m.
That left Clark trapped under the SUV.
A nearby mechanic who heard the crash came with a jack to help lift the vehicle and free Clark, who was conscious and alert, according to Lewiston police.
Officers found a stolen bottle of Skull vodka on Clark, according to police.
He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he remained in serious but not life-threatening condition.
